Connect Learning
Computer Applications Training
Linda Pearson, the founder of Summit Training, began her teaching career in 1964 at the Air Force base in Ohio where her husband was stationed. In 1973, she organized and ran one of the first Word Processing centers in southern California where she was involved in teaching people how to use computers.
Early in her career, she learned that the available training courses worked well in the classroom, but left the students unable to transfer learned skills to the workplace. Generally, this was because most available classes taught students how to edit already-created documents. It didn't teach them how to deal with real world documents, or the error messages that would suddenly pop up. After moving to Beaumont, Texas in 1988, Linda began offering classes that taught students:
- How to create documents from the beginning
- How to deal with common problems
- Where to look for the answer to questions that come up when working with the software
Connect Learning was founded in 1999 to teach certified Adobe classes. In April of 2011, Akira Resources LLC, which was owned by Linda Pearson, acquired Connect Learning, adding a wide range of Adobe classes to the Microsoft Office and Primavera training courses already provided through Summit Training, a subsidiary of Akira Resources.
Connect Learning teaches Microsoft® applications, and takes pride in providing good, old-fashioned personal service. We care about our customers and treat their problems as if they are our own. We provide instructors who not only have in-depth knowledge of the programs they teach, but also real world experience using the software. Connect Learning instructors know the issue their students are likely to face and the problems they will encounter.
